About Michael Rowan

Michael RowanAs Executive Vice President for Hospital and Ambulatory Services, Michael Rowan is responsible for leading and overseeing Beth Israel Lahey Health's hospital and ambulatory care delivery system, including 14 hospitals and approximately 40 major ambulatory facilities spanning urgent care, imaging, ambulatory surgery, cancer services and comprehensive multi-specialty care.

Michael has more than 30 years of experience in health care administration. Most recently, he was President of Health System Delivery and Chief Operating Officer at Catholic Health Initiatives. In his 13 years at CHI, he provided strategic direction and operational leadership for the organization's 110 hospitals and hundreds of sites of care in 19 states.

Prior to Catholic Health Initiatives, Michael was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Detroit-Based St. John Health (now Ascension Health - Michigan), an integrated delivery system with nine hospitals and $2 billion in net revenue. He also held previous roles as President and Chief Executive of Ohio-based Humility of Mary Health Partners (now Mercy Health – Youngstown) and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.

Michael received his bachelor of science degree from Miami University and his master of health services administration from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan.
