About Scott Herndon

As Beth Israel Lahey Health’s Executive Vice President and Chief FInancial Officer, Scott Herndon leads all aspects of the system's finance function and the implementation of strategic initiatives to meet key growth, sustainability and financial goals. 

Scott is an accomplished health care executive with more than 25 years of experience in health system and hospital financial operations, business development and performance improvement. Before joining Beth Israel Lahey Health, he spent nearly a decade at Ascension, where he held successive finance leadership roles, including Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer – System & Strategic Finance and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer – Operational Finance. He previously spent seven years with HCA as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at multiple hospitals in Texas and Florida.  

A certified public accountant and fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, Scott is affiliated with a number of professional organizations, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Medical Group Management Association. Scott received his undergraduate degree in accounting from Auburn University and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
