Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care Names Nic Nguyen, MD, as Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President

BOSTON – Today, Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care (BILHPC) announced the appointment of Nic Nguyen, MD, as chief medical officer (CMO) and senior vice president. BILHPC consists of 600 clinicians, who annually provide care to 420,000 patients.

In this newly created role, Nguyen will oversee all aspects of BILHPC’s clinical enterprise, including leading consistent care delivery systems, supporting teams through care model evolution, and developing sustainable strategies for growth and experience.

“Nic is a collaborative and respected family medicine physician leader committed to organizational excellence,” said Betsy Johnson, MD, MS, president of BILHPC. “In his new position, Nic will help support BILH Primary Care as we further our goals of delivering superior access, service and patient experience.”

Prior to being named CMO, Nguyen served as BILHPC’s associate chief medical officer for the south, overseeing BILHPC’s practices in the southern part of Massachusetts. Before that, Nguyen held several leadership positions at Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare, a primary care network with 150 providers and 400 care team members. Nguyen also served as residency core faculty and director of the inpatient teaching service for Cambridge Health Alliance’s Whidden Campus.

Nguyen is a graduate of both Tufts University and Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his residency training at Cambridge Health Alliance. He is also a graduate of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Linde Fellowship in leadership training. Nguyen will continue to see patients at BILHPC - Brookline Family Medicine.
