Susan Harris Named Chief Human Resources Officer of Beth Israel Lahey Health

Cambridge, MA – Susan (Sue) Harris has been named Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) after serving as interim CHRO since January of this year. As CHRO, Harris will lead the system's overall human resources strategy, with a focus on building and advancing talent and fostering an organizational culture that embraces an engaged and diverse workforce that is focused on supporting BILH's patients and communities. She will oversee employee relations, labor relations, health and wellness programs, total rewards, performance management, and workforce planning.

"I am highly confident in Sue's leadership and know that she will continue to build on her more than 20 years of experience in human resources, including eight years as part of Beth Israel Lahey Health and its legacy organizations," said Kristen Lepore, executive vice president and chief administration officer of BILH. "In the years ahead, she and her team will further strengthen our organization's culture of excellence, engagement and belonging."

As interim CHRO, Harris focused on developing and expanding programs that are dedicated to supporting BILH's workforce and advancing the next generation of talent. Previously, Harris served as BILH's senior vice president of Human Resources, Total Rewards, and before that as vice president, Total Rewards, with responsibility for the organization's employee benefits, retirement, and compensation integration efforts. From 2017 to 2019, she was Lahey Health's vice president, Total Rewards.

Before joining Lahey Health, Harris led Total Rewards integration efforts at CharterCare Health Partners in Rhode Island at St. Joseph's Health Services, Roger Williams Hospital, and Elmwood Extended Care as they formed CharterCare Health Partners. Previously, Harris served on the Total Rewards team at St. Joseph's Health Services and partnered with senior leadership to redesign the organization's Total Rewards function.

Harris received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She also holds a certification in health leadership from Harvard Business School.
