Beth Israel Lahey Health and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Open New Urgent Care Center in Dedham
Dedham, MA – As part of its foundational mission to expand access to extraordinary care in the community, Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), in partnership with Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), today opened Beth Israel Lahey Health Urgent Care – Dedham. Located at 910 Washington Street in Dedham and staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians affiliated with Harvard Medical School, the new urgent care site will serve residents in Dedham and surrounding communities, including Norwood, Westwood, Needham and West Roxbury.
Beth Israel Lahey Health Urgent Care – Dedham provides care to patients over the age of two experiencing urgent but non-life threating injuries or illnesses. A wide variety of common illnesses and injuries can be treated in an urgent care setting instead of a hospital's emergency room, including ear and urinary tract infections, common colds, flu, sprains or strains as well as cuts and deep bruises. Open seven days a week, the center offers on-site laboratories and medical imaging, including ultrasound and diagnostic X-ray.
"With access to board-certified emergency medicine physicians, Beth Israel Lahey Health Urgent Care – Dedham will provide top-tier care in a convenient, neighborhood location, "said Richard Wolfe, MD, Chief of Emergency Medicine at BIDMC and HMFP. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to serve this community close to home and work."
Patients needing more complex emergency care can be seamlessly transferred to nearby Beth Israel Deaconess–Needham or Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where their medical information will be readily available to the treatment team thanks to an integrated medical record system.
"Our advanced urgent care centers positioned within the Beth Israel Lahey Health system act as a bridge between outpatient primary care visits and the emergency department," said Barbara Masser, MD, Director of Ambulatory Emergency Medicine at BIDMC, who oversees clinical operations at Beth Israel Lahey Health Urgent Care – Dedham and other Beth Israel Lahey Health urgent care sites in Chelsea, Chestnut Hill and Quincy. "Expanding access to urgent care centers in the community gives patients and families another resource for timely care, while also reducing unnecessary emergency department use and overcrowding."
To reduce time spent in the waiting room, urgent care reservations can be made online or by calling Beth Israel Lahey Health Urgent Care – Dedham at 781-453-7200. Free parking is available, and the center is located near the 34E MBTA bus line.
