Easy To Understand COVID-19 Vaccine Updates
June 21, 2023
The CDC is simplifying its COVID-19 vaccine recommendations for people at higher risk. This will allow those individuals the option of getting additional COVID-19 vaccine doses.
These changes include:
- Those 65+ can get an additional updated (bivalent) vaccine four months after the initial bivalent dose. Those that are immunocompromised can receive the dose two months after initial bivalent.
- The monovalent (the original vaccine) COVID-19 vaccine will no longer be recommended in the United States.
- Everyone ages six and older should receive an updated bivalent vaccine.
- Those between six and 65 who are up-to-date on their vaccines do not need another shot unless they are over 65 or immunocompromised.
