About Caesar Gonzales, MD

As Beth Israel Lahey Health’s Chief Medical Officer,  Caesar Gonzales, MD, partner closely with clinical and administrative leaders across the system to advance quality, safety and clinical excellence for the patients and communities we serve.  Caesar oversees a broad range of clinical initiatives, including infection prevention, quality and process improvement, patient experience, safety and risk management, laboratory services, emergency management, and credentialing and verification. 

Caesar has extensive experience as both a clinician and a physician-leader. He joined Beth Israel Lahey Health from Trinity Health Michigan, a nine-hospital system, where he served as Chief Clinical Officer with responsibility for quality and safety, clinical service line leadership, physician contracting and broad -ranging technology transformation portfolio. Previously, he held a series of progressive leadership roles at Centra Health in Virginia, advancing from a practicing anesthesiologist to System Chief Medical Officer.

Caesar  received his undergraduate degree in neuroscience from Brigham Young University, completed his medical degree and residency training in anesthesiology from the University of Michigan, and earned his  master’s degree in health care management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology.
