About Alexa Kimball, MD, MPH

Alexa B. Kimball, MD, MPH, is President and CEO of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, an academic multi-specialty physician group with more than 2,400 employees that is recognized by the Boston Globe as a top 100 Women-Led Business in Massachusetts.

A professor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Kimball's research focus is psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa. She has published more than 400 papers, conducted more than 150 clinical trials and has extensive experience in drug development and innovation. She holds two patents and several licensing agreements. She has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Psoriasis Foundation, as well as the American Skin Association's Research Award for Health Policy and Medical Education and the Joseph B. Martin Dean's Leadership Award for the Advancement of Women Faculty at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kimball also served on the Advisory Council to the Director of the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Kimball received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, master's in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine. She completed an internship in medicine at the Beth Israel Hospital, her residency in dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center and a clinical research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health.
