About Alexa Kimball, MD, MPH
Dr. Kimball is CEO and President of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, an academic multi-specialty physician group with more than 2,200 employees that is recognized by the Boston Globe as a top 10 Women-Led Business in Massachusetts.
A professor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Kimball’s research focus is psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa. She has published more than 360 papers, conducted more than 150 clinical trials and has extensive experience in drug development and innovation, including two patents and several licensing agreements. Awards include the American Skin Association Research Award for Health Policy and Medical Education, Fierce HealthCare's Women of Influence Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Psoriasis Foundation, the Joseph B. Martin Dean's Leadership Award for the Advancement of Women Faculty at Harvard Medical School, and Extraordinary Women Advancing Healthcare in Massachusetts by the Women's Edge.
Dr. Kimball also serves on the Advisory Council to the Director of the National Institutes of Health. She received her bachelor's degree in molecular biology and public and international affairs from Princeton University, master’s in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine. She completed an internship in medicine at the Beth Israel Hospital, her residency in dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center and a clinical research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health.
